Health Guarantee

Avian West Exotics

During the weaning process, we develop a bond with all of our babies. We share their first 3-5 months of life. During this time of their development we want them to be happy, and healthy. We do everything possible to ensure that they get the best nutrition, care, and environment so when they leave us you will enjoy a happy, healthy, well developed new member for your family. We are always available to answer questions regarding care and nutrition for all babies purchased from us.

All birds purchased from our Aviary come with a 3-day period guarantee from the time of delivery as to the health status of the bird purchased. Due to conditions that will be beyond our control, the bird will not be guaranteed beyond this 3-day period. AvianWest warrants that, at the time of delivery, the birds purchased are completely healthy and that there are no symptoms of disease or parasites at the time of sale/shipping. You are encouraged to have the bird examined by a licensed avian veterinarian of your choice at your expense within seventy-two (72) hours from the time of delivery to verify the health of the bird and to uphold the health guarantee. We provide a list of Avian veterinarians for the California area on our site.t

If, during this 72-hour period the bird is diagnosed with a pre-existing condition that is non treatable and seriously affects the health or well-being of purchased bird, and it has been determined to have been present prior to the bird being sold, as determined by the examining avian veterinarian, all laboratory tests and results shall be made available to AvianWest's attending veterinarian who must concur with the diagnosis. Upon verification of this condition, and upon return of the bird(s), AvianWest agrees, at it's discretion, to either refund to buyer the full purchase price or replace said bird(s) with bird(s) of the same species.

We do not consider a mild growth of gram-negative bacteria to be abnormal post shipping, but recognize this as normal and expected due to stress.

In the event that the bird should die within the 72 hour period, you must immediately refrigerate (not freeze) the bird's body in a sealed plastic bag and deliver the body within 12-24 hours to a qualified lab or avian veterinarian for necropsy to determine the cause of death. Refund or replacement, if any, will be based on the cause of death. AvianWest is not responsible for airfreight charges nor for veterinary charges after bird's delivery. In the event that you fail to have the bird examined by an avian veterinarian within 72 hours of delivery, fail to notify AvianWest immediately of changes in health within the 72 hour period or fail to submit the deceased bird's body for necropsy, then you understand and agree that the sale is one of "as is" condition.

The original band must be intact and on the bird sold to buyer. Removal of the band revokes any expressed or implied guarantee.
